If your student is in Math 1, Math 3, Biology or English 2 (regular or honors) this semester, please review the information. If a student does not meet the state proficiency requirement on the initial EOC, Buncombe County Schools will offer a retest opportunity within the same testing window (the week of January 12-16). Retesting allows students another chance to demonstrate their understanding and may improve both their proficiency level and final course grade.
EOC scores account for 20% of a student's final grade. Therefore, an EOC retest could be an important opportunity for a student to earn credit for the class. If your student retests, the highest score earned from both attempts will be used as the final exam grade.
If your child is in enrolled in an EOC course, he/she will be provided an opt in permission slip for retesting. This form will be provided by the students EOC teacher prior to testing.
