Erwin High Parents-
We thank you for being our valued partners in working together to educate your children. Buncombe County Schools has a strong commitment to educating the whole child. This means understanding how each child’s life skills contribute to their success in school and beyond. These skills include such things as problem-solving, emotional management, and relationships with others.
Between November 16 - December 1, Buncombe County Schools will implement the Panorama Survey. Students in grades 3 - 13 will complete the survey. The information will be used to plan instruction and identify environmental supports that best meet the needs of students. In addition, results will give schools an overview of what skills need more direct instruction, intervention, or support. Please visit our BCS Panorama site to learn more, view the surveys, and provide consent. If you wish to simply provide consent, you may click here . Contact your school counselor or administrator for more information.
The Buncombe County Board of Education will meet in regular session on November 2, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Minitorium at 175 Bingham Road, Asheville.

We're so excited to see the next generation of teachers! According to AIG Specialist Stephanie Knox, on Friday, October 21, BCS Teacher Cadets and Future Teacher Clubs had an exciting day of learning and thinking about their bright futures! Erwin High Parents & Guardians,
On September 1, 2021, Senate Bill 693 was signed into Law, effective immediately. This legislation aims to increase awareness of the signs of abuse in children and requires public schools to provide students with information on abuse and neglect with the goal of better supporting and protecting them. In the coming days, we will post educational posters near your school’s counseling/student services office. Also, we’ll be emailing an informational flyer to our students in compliance with this legislation.
The documents will cover topics such as warning signs of abuse or neglect, resources to contact for help, and information about the Say Something App, which is a statewide school safety reporting tool.
Keeping students safe in school, at home, and in the community is a team effort. Any person 18 years of age or older who knows or should have reasonably known that a juvenile has been or is the victim of a violent offense, sexual offense, or misdemeanor child abuse under G.S. 14-318.2 shall immediately report the case of that juvenile to the appropriate local law enforcement agency in the county where the juvenile resides or is found.
