As we begin thinking about the second semester, some students find themselves one or two credits short of having enough to graduate on time or move to the next grade level with their classmates. Buncombe County Schools has an answer for students in that situation – Twilight School.

Twilight School is an evening program for high school students who need to earn new credits or recover credits previously failed. A full list of academic courses is available in an on-line credit

recovery option while new credit offerings will be determined by student need. Credit recovery sessions are approximately 7 weeks in length and a student can recoup two credits by attending both sessions. New

credit courses are 15 weeks in length, allowing students to earn one new credit.

Twilight School begins Wednesday, February 7th, and meets Monday through Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm. Twilight will be held at the Nesbitt Discovery Academy campus located at the Buncombe County Schools Central Office Building at 175 Bingham Road and this year all courses are hybrid utilizing an online platform supported by content area teachers who will meet with students in-person or through google meet at least once per week.

Applications and additional information are available on the Buncombe County Schools’ home page. This opportunity is free of charge to students.

Students are encouraged to first talk with your school counselor to determine the best course(s) to choose based on your individual circumstances and your graduation plan. Don’t delay, register today.
