Virtual Days Information

As of Wednesday, March 18, 2020, BCS will institute Virtual Learning Days for our students. Teachers will place lessons and assignments in virtual locations such as Canvas and Google Classroom for students to complete. For general information about Virtual Days, please go to the BCS Virtual Days website. For questions specific to classes, please contact that teacher via email. Teacher email addresses are listed on their websites (above, under Directory) or follow the following format:

If you do not have internet access at home, did not previously sign up for a school-issued hotspot, and are in an area serviced by Charter Spectrum, you can call 1-844-488-8395 to enroll in free services provided for 60 days. If Charter is not an option for you, please fill out this form to request a hotspot from BCS. At this time, there is a waitlist for these hotspots. We do not know if there will be enough for everyone.

There are a few other ways to get internet access, though they do not provide them in your house. All BCS school campuses have left the WiFi on. You just have to get close enough to the school building for your computer to connect automatically. All of the Buncombe Public Library branches have also left their WiFi on. The password for those networks is "readmore."
For technology help during this time, please submit a help request, you can request help from one of Erwin's librarian by filling out this form. Office hours for the librarians are Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. If you need more immediate tech help, please call the BCS Technology Help Desk: 828-255-5987 from 8 AM - 6PM.

Emergency Food Services

Drive through pick up stations for breakfast (7:30 am - 8:30 am) and lunch (11:30 am - 1:30 pm) in the Erwin District are available daily at the following schools: Johnston Elementary, Emma Elementary, and West Buncombe Elementary. Buses will deliver food to high population areas. More information on that is forthcoming.
