The Buncombe County All-County Chorus performed last week on Tuesday, November 6th at the First Baptist Church of Asheville. This choir featured the top voices in Buncombe County Schools. DeAnna Clark, Jacqulynn Cole, Delaney Phelps, Mike Smith, Victoria Torreblanca, Teresa Walsh, and Haylee Williamson (pictured below) represented Erwin at this performance.

All County Chorus Students

The chorus was led by Dr. Allison Thorp from Western Carolina University where she serves as the Director of Choral Activities, conducting the Concert Choir, University Chorus, and Chamber Singers, and teaches courses in conducting and choral methods. Dr. Thorp is a graduate of Eastman School of Music and previously served as a professor there. She is also an active researcher in the field of music, presenting on an international and global level. The chorus was accompanied by Kyle Ritter who serves as Canon for Music at The Cathedral of All Soul's in Asheville and is currently the Assistant Director of the Asheville Symphony Chorus. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in organ and church music from Indiana University. 

The chorus featured six schools singing six songs in six different languages - Zambian, French, Mandarin, Spanish, German, and English.
