About Mrs. Silver:
This is my fifth year at Erwin High, and I love being part of such a sweet community! Through all of my experiences, I feel very blessed to be a part of Clyde A. Erwin High School.
As a child, I grew up in the Asheville area and attended Haw Creek (K-4)and Leicester Elementary School (5).  I went on to Erwin Middle and Erwin High School.  Soon after graduating high school I got married, had three wonderful children, and was fortunate enough to stay at home with them. During the last four years of staying at home, I decided to further my education. After much consideration I chose to do what I loved, teaching! I attended the Mars Hill College Adult Access program, graduated at the top of my class, Mu Kappa Lambda, and Summa Cum Laude. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After three years in the elementary education field, I decided to pursue a certification for high school. I felt very blessed to have been able to go back to school and to have been so supported by my family and friends!
I live in the Leicester community with my husband Chad and three children; Ethan (18)-who is currently attending and playing football for Campbell University, Jacob (17), and Cecilee (14). In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with and watching my children participate in all of their activities of football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and softball.
Teaching is my passion! I enjoy it immensely and could not imagine doing anything else. I love being able to be a part and watch my students develop and grow as readers, writers, and historians! Each day my students are engaged in thoughtful, creative, and engaging activities that promote higher level thinking.  They interact with each other and at times teach not only their peers but myself as well. I really enjoy just being a part of this process, and watching it take place each day right before my eyes. Teaching and being in a classroom is a magical place to be.
