Roe, John - Social Studies

My fiancee and I
Hello My Name Is...

John Roe

We are in unprecedented times which requires us all to be flexible and modify our educational learning.  After a two week in person orientation period for some students and virtual for the rest of the students we will all once again go to a 100% virtual leaning program.  Unlike the Spring semester which had little accountability, this Fall semester will require every student to participate in online learning each and every day at your schedule class times (listed below).  Your participation includes attending Zoom or Google Meets video sessions within the first 5 minutes of the class start time.  In other words students must be in front of a computer or other device that allows for face to face live streaming (your face must be visible).  If you anticipate a problem with any of the procedures you must contact an administrator here at Erwin.

Lessons will be posted daily via CANVAS or Google Classroom. (Depending on which platform your teacher decides.)

I was born in Akron, Ohio, and have lived in North Carolina for 12 years. I graduated from Western Carolina University in December 2019 and began my teaching career in January 2020. I have Bachelor’s Degrees in History and Social Science Education. I am very passionate about history, and even more so about teaching.  I am getting married this September to my lovely fiancée Kristan. I look forward to this school year and am very excited to be a part of the Erwin High Family!

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”
