Laney, Lisa - Dance

Hello My Name Is...

Lisa Laney

I am a life long resident of Asheville, NC. I graduated from Enka High School in 1989. I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance Education. I began teaching dance for Henderson County Schools in the Fall of 1993 as a member of their Elementary Arts Team. Several years later, I went from teaching elementary school dance to elementary school music. I most recently taught at Mills River Elementary School doing visual art and music. In 2013, I finished my graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. I have always continued my passion for teaching dance by working at local studios in the area. I am thrilled to finally return to teaching high school dance. Dance has always been my first passion and I love to watch young men and women both learn and create dances.
In the community, I am highly involved in Lake Hills Church, as well as, the Distinguished Young Woman of Buncombe County Program.  This is a scholarship program for high school senior girls that teaches interview skills, how to speak in front of groups, how to showcase your talent, and most importantly, the true importance of furthering yourself through education. I am happy and excited to be a part of the dance program at Erwin High!
