Course description:

        Agriscience is an introductory course for Agricultural Education.  The course involves classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experiences (SAE), and FFA as methods to learn.  Topics include leadership, animal science, plant science, Ag. Mechanics, and general agricultural awareness.  Agriscience is designed to include as many hands on activities as possible, and will include a variety of learning settings.  FFA is a student organization that promotes premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.  There will be a variety of lessons that involve FFA and many opportunities to become an active chapter member.  Opportunities available for agriscience students to become involved as a chapter member include earning a greenhand degree, serving as a greenhand officer, participating in career development events (contests), serving on FFA committees, fundraising, attending leadership conferences, community service projects, and chapter meetings.  FFA dues are $25 and are due by September 29th.   There is a state exam that is required at the end of the semester that will count as 25 percent of the final grade for the course.

Above is the grading policy for 9 weeks grades, the final grade will be the average of the two 9 week’s grades and the State CTE Post Assessment (final exam).  Tests will be given at the completion of each unit, and weekly quizzes will be given covering the week’s topics.  Students must turn in safety agreements, and insurance waivers before being able to participate in labs.
