As a native of the Washington D.C. area (Fairfax, Virginia), Mrs. Winne earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University, Virginia in 1991, and then her Masters in School Counseling from Marymount University, Virginia in 1996.  
In January 2018, Mrs. Winne will begin her 21st year as a Professional High School Counselor. Before moving to Asheville/BCS in January 2011, she worked as a high school counselor in Fairfax County Public Schools for 14 years (James Madison HS). Prior to school counseling, she worked in high school security for 2 years, served as a substitute teacher for middle and high schools and coached for FCPS.  
Parents and students: please feel free to use email as counselors are with students during the school day, as well as out of the office fulfilling additional duties for the school. Email is an excellent way to communicate for non-emergency questions or concerns.
